Fall Weather = Boot Weather

There’s nothing better than slipping into your favorite pair of boots as the air turns crisp and the leaves start to fall. But with the beauty of fall comes unpredictable weather — wet sidewalks, muddy paths, and sudden cold snaps.

To keep your cowhide, leather, and suede boots looking great all season long, here are a few care tips I personally follow with my Stiefeld pairs (and recommend to every boot lover out there).

1. Brush Off the Dust and Dirt

Whether you're wearing your Aurora Hair-on-Hide Ankle Boots on a morning walk or your Dakota Tall Boots to the pumpkin patch, dirt will find its way onto the hair or leather.

After each wear, use a soft brush to gently remove dust, following the direction of the hair. For leather or suede, a clean dry brush or suede eraser works best.

2. Let Them Breathe

If your boots get damp from morning dew or light rain, never store them right away. Let them air dry in a cool, dry place — away from heaters or direct sunlight, which can crack leather or curl the hide.

3. Use a Protective Boot Bag When Traveling

Planning weekend fall trips or heading to a rodeo? Keep your Jolene High-Heel Cowhide Boots or Loretta Short Boots safe from scratches by storing them in individual boot bags.
🎒 Tip: This helps prevent friction and keeps hair-on-hide from rubbing off.

4. Condition Leather (Not Hair-On-Hide)

If you have Luciana or Agnes Cowhide Sandals, you can skip this step, but for smooth leather styles like the Georgette Mules, a light conditioner every few months keeps the leather supple and prevents drying.

⚠️ Never condition the hair-on-hide — it doesn’t need it.

5. Store Them Upright (or With Shapers)

Don’t just toss your boots in a corner — it ruins the shaft shape. For mid and tall styles like the Carmen Mid-Calf Boots or Dakota, use boot shapers or stuff them with clean paper to maintain their structure.

6. Rotate Between Pairs

Fall is the best time to show off different boot styles. Rotate your Abby Mules, Auroras, and Dakotas so no single pair wears out too fast. Trust me — your boots (and outfits) will thank you.

🍁 Final Word

Stiefeld boots are built to last — welt construction, premium hide, and artisan care in every stitch. But showing your boots a little love this season will make them last for many autumns to come.
